Originally presented at the 78th Gallup International Association Conference in Budapest, this Investimate case study explores how social listening can strengthen conventional research. Using Brandwatch to analyse 926 online mentions about the risk of ISIS returning in Syria, the study demonstrates how emerging narratives can help researchers identify gaps, refine questionnaires and ask better questions.
Using Brandwatch, Investimate analysed 58.1 million English, Arabic and Persian social media posts around the war involving Iran. The analysis revealed three distinct conversations: international in English, regional in Arabic, and domestic-political in Persian. A deep dive into 15,000 posts explored differences in narratives and political positioning. The research was originally presented at the 78th Gallup International Association Conference in Budapest, September 2026.
Campaigns do not underperform because organisations lack data. They underperform because reach is often mistaken for understanding. A stronger approach connects real-time audience signals with rigorous research—and applies that intelligence throughout the campaign lifecycle.
